At Albany Scenario Club, safety is our first priority. According to statistics provided by the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, paintball is an extremely safe sport. Even safer then bowling! However, when safety rules are not taken seriously, serious injury can occur. For this reason, everything we do at Albany Scenario club is done with the safety of our players, spectators and staff in mind.
Safety Procedures
In order to ensure the well-being of everyone at our facilities, we go to great lengths to promote awareness of proper safety procedures. All players are required to wear an industry approved mask and goggle system while on the playing fields. All players are required to equip their markers with industry approved barrel blocking devices while not in play. These, and other rules, are explained to players upon their arrival at the field and are enforced constantly by ASC staff.
Radar Chronograph
Before we allow any paintball marker onto the field, its velocity is verified to be at or under 280 feet-per-second using a radar chronograph. As the day progresses, ASC staff will continue to spot check all marker velocities. By consistently enforcing a safe marker velocity we can prevent players from getting painful welts as well as making sure paintballs do not exceed safety limits set by goggle manufacturers.
The Rules
The day at Albany Scenario Club starts with a safety briefing. The head referee will gather all players (and spectators) to review and recite the rules. The rules are designed to promote a safe and fun paintball environment by ensuring everyone has the correct safety equipment and is using it properly, and to make players aware of potentially dangerous situations on the field so they can be avoided.
The rules are as follows:
- The referee is always right.
- When in doubt, the referee is always right.
- I will wear my mask at all times.
- When I am not in play, I will use a barrel blocker.
- Minimum safe distance.
- I will not cheat.
- I will not shoot the referee.
- I will preserve my integrity.
- I will have as much fun as possible.
