The Battle of Hoth

The Battle of Hoth Scenario will attempt to emulate the battle from the film. This battle which happened in the film, impacts the storyline of Star Wars, and is known as one of the Epic battles from the Star Wars universe.

In the film, the Imperial Fleet, under the command of Darth Vader is in search of the rebel base. Suffering their recent defeat with the rebel attack on the Death Star, Vader’s resolve to crush the rebellion is strengthened to the point of obsession. Vader has also become aware of his son Luke Skywalker, and is on a search to find him, and turn him to the dark side.

In the game, we will have 2 sides to the battle, The Imperial Navy, and The Galactic Rebellion. The game will be broken into 2 mission blocks. The first mission block will be one that preludes the battle, and the second mission block will be the battle itself.

PART ONE:

For mission block 1, the Imperials will have launched probe droids, and discovered the location of the rebel base. To attack the rebel base the Imperials will need to land all of their ground based infantry and assault vehicles. They cannot attack the base directly as the rebels have a massive anti-bombardment shield in place. The Imperial fleet will need to knock out the shield so that they may attack the base directly.

For this mission block the imperials will need to pilot transports ships (shuttles) and land their infantry on the planet, so they may stage for the main attack. The Imperials will have 2 commanders for this event. The first will be Darth Vader. Vader will be a player character for this mission block. He will leave the bulk of the attack to General Veers, who will command the ground forces. Vader will be an invincible character, but will not carry a weapon other than his light saber. (Vader will not be able to be shot out, and sent to re-spawn, but will also not be able to carry a paintball marker) Vader will be able to send players to re spawn with his light saber, using barrel tag rules. General Veers will be the main commander for the event, and will lead the Imperials into battle. General Veers will have command arm bands identifying him as the commander, and will be head shot re spawn only.

The Imperials will also have 2 special class players, One will be “shuttle pilots”, who will be the only players able to pilot the shuttles from the Star Destroyers (re spawn point) to the planet surface. For this mission re spawning players for the Imperial side will return to the “Star Destroyer” and need to ride a transport ship to the surface. This will be simulated with a special prop, and the shuttle pilot must be touching this prop in order to “fly” it. All Imperial players will begin this mission at the “Star Destroyer” and will need to be flown into battle. The shuttle will follow a pre designated route. Imperials will gain ___ points for each shuttle landed, that deploys troops. All players must be touching the shuttle prop while “in flight” and continue to touch it until it completes its route and “lands”. Players in the shuttle/transport will not be able to be shot out by ground fire, but the shuttle itself can be shot out of the sky with a rebel rocket. Players releasing their grip on the shuttle prop, will be considered out, and have to return to re spawn @ the “Star Destroyer”. Both Vader and General Veers will need to ride a shuttle into play.

The second special class of player, will be the “Probe Droid” The probe droid will be a scout, and be able to move freely anywhere on the field, without having to be flown into the battle. Probe droids will be clearly marked. Probe droids will be able to move freely and attack rebels at will. Probe droids will be able to Search for Commander Skywalker (Also) and relay this information to the Imperial Command. If the Probe droids find Commander Skywalker, the Imperials may launch an attack to capture him. ___ Points will be awarded for Commander Skywalker’s capture.

The Rebels for mission block 1 will be prepping to repel the Imperial attack. While the Imperials are attempting to land, the Rebels will be attempting to stop shuttle flights, keeping probe droids at bay, and trying to locate and rescue Commander Skywalker.

The Rebels will have three commanders, Luke Skywalker, who will be in the clutches of the Snow beast (Wampa) Commander Solo, and Chewbacca will be the other two commanders. All three commanders for Mission block 1 will be clearly marked, (Same as General Veers for the Imperials, and follow the same rules) Commander Skywalker will be out of play for mission block 1 until the Rebels rescue him from the Wampa. Rebels must find the Wampa’s Lair, and Commander Skywalker, and defeat the Wampa to bring him into play. The Wampa will be marked with 2 arm bands, A clear hit on a band will count, and referees will remove the band, once both bands are removed, the Wampa will be out of play, and commander Skywalker will be released to the team that defeats the Wampa. If both teams are in the area of play when the Wampa is defeated, the teams will battle it out over Commander Skywalker, and the victorious team will gain possession of Commander Skywalker. ___ Points will be awarded to the team who rescues/captures Commander Skywalker.

Rebels will also be attempting to stop shuttles from landing. ___ Points will be awarded for each shuttle shot down.

Rebels will have a standard re spawn point for mission block 1.

Commanding Mission Block 1 will be Commander Solo, and Chewbacca for the Rebels.
General Veers and Darth Vader will command for the Imperials.

NOTE*** Commander Skywalker will not be in play until he is rescued by the rebels. If he is rescued, he must be returned to the rebel re spawn to go into play. If he is Captured by the Imperials they will need to return him to the “Star Destroyer” (Imperial re spawn) to keep him out of play for the remainder of the mission block. Commander Skywalker will not need to be transported VIA shuttle.

PART TWO.

The Imperial Assault on Echo Base.

The Mission will revolve around the main scene from the movie.

The Imperials will have a standing re spawn point, and will not have to take shuttles back and forth. The Imperials will attack Echo base (Bunker) in order to remove 3 flags from around the outside of Echo base, and finally one inside. The Imperial forces will have (2) AT-AT walkers (props provided by ASC). These walkers will be manned by 4 players in order to be moved from place to place on the field. The walkers will not be able to be removed by ground fire (paintballs) they will be sent to re spawn when any Rebel player hangs the “Tow Cable” on the back of the walker. Walkers may not go over the walls to Echo Base. The 3 flags will represent the ION Cannon, The Hangar Bay, The Shield Generator. Each flag that is removed, will represent the destruction of each location (similar to the film) and finally the 4th flag will be the full over run of echo base. The mission points will be based on time of possession for the Rebels, and destruction for the Imperials.

The Rebels will defend Echo Base. In addition, The Rebels will also attempt to get (4) transport ships off the planet. To do this, Rebel special class players, “X-Wing pilots” will escort the Transport props on a pre designated route. ___ Points will be awarded for each escaping transport. Imperials may stop these transports from escaping. Imperials can seize any transport once its pilot(s) are sent to re spawn. Captured transports must be taken back to re spawn for Imperial points. Rebels may rescue transports in distress.

For the second mission block Commanders will remain the same, with the same rules.

**Imperial command may designate one AT-ST walker as a player. The AT-ST player may be armored, and carry shielding. This player will be sent to re spawn with a rocket hit. This player will be clearly marked as the AT-ST. This will only apply in mission block 2.
